Tryouts Hosted Every Spring & Fall

At tryouts, we are looking for hardworking student-athletes with a passion for dance or learning something new! We look for students who are

Experience is NOT required but preferred!

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRYOUTS

Our tryouts typically run similar to a practice and span over the course of 2 or 3 days to give new dancers the chance to practice at home and / or get help from a friend. It also shows coach your improvement. Here's how tryouts usually go:

  1. Get to know you game

  2. Warm up & Stretch

  3. Across the Floor Technique

    1. Battements (kicks), Chaîné Turns, Leaps, Pirouettes, etc...

    2. If you are new to dance- don't worry. We will teach you at the tryout!

  4. Learn a Short Piece of Choreography

  5. Cool Down

Remember- Coach Katelyn looks for potential!

Don't be afraid to make a mistake, just use your biggest energy while dancing, smile, and try your best. YOU CAN DO THIS!

  1. UP-TO-DATE PHYSICAL OR YELLOW / BLUE CARD

    1. As per ASD Guidelines, you cannot participate without this!

    2. Email it to coach ahead of time or bring a physical copy with you to tryouts.

  2. Water

  3. Wear comfortable athletic clothing

  4. Wear tennis shoes / sneakers

  5. Bring jazz shoes if you have them

    1. Or other dance shoes (ballet, foot undiez, half-shoes, etc.)

WHAT TO BRING

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What kind of dancing do we do?

    1. Our main styles are pom, hip hop and jazz but we occasionally do lyrical and drill

  2. Do I need dance experience to join the team?

    1. No! We will teach you what you need to know :)

  3. Does the Dance Team compete?

    1. YES! Our competition team competes in 3 - 5 competitions each winter in 1 - 3 styles (depending on the season)

  4. What is the time commitment?

    1. We practice 2-3 days a week for 3 hours each practice. Expect anywhere from 0 - 3 performances a month.

  5. How much does it cost to be on the team?

    1. TBD
